Nestled high in the mountains at the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski resort, Avoriaz is a purpose-built and completely pedestrianised winter wonderland. With immediate access to an unrivalled 650km of piste, an impressive snow record for the last ten years and boasting ski-to-your-door accommodation, it’s no surprise that Avoriaz remains one of the more popular ski destinations in France.

Close to one of the most well-fed airports in Europe, the journey from Geneva to Avoriaz is not much more than 1 hour and 30 minutes, although this can be significantly longer on busy weekends. All Avoriaz transfer services pass through the sister town of Morzine, before beginning the long climb up the mountain. Particularly beautiful at sunset and sunrise, the journey incorporates 19 switchback hairpins and a glorious view of the surrounding mountains.

We offer shared and private transfers from Geneva to Avoriaz, to allow our clients complete flexibility. Our shared Geneva transfers are popular and cost-effective and with hundreds of passengers travelling every day, we can offer an unbeatable service. As with all destinations in the Portes du Soleil, the transfer from Geneva to Avoriaz is relatively quick and easy, making it ideal for short breaks as well.

Other than holidaymakers taking transfers to Avoriaz, the town attracts a lot of day skiers, especially on the weekend. This can severely increase the volume of traffic on the road, and the journey can take a lot longer during peak changeover weekends. Our experienced operations team will ensure that all traffic and weather conditions are taken into account when planning both legs of your journey and with our very capable drivers, you’ll be in safe hands even in the most challenging circumstancs.

Avoriaz

What's On in Avoriaz this winter

650 km of piste

No doubt one of the biggest contributors to Avoriaz’ popularity is its location at the heart of the Portes du Soleil. Put simply, it is the highest and most snow-assured town in one of the biggest ski resort in the world. With immediate access to some of the best skiing in Europe, Avoriaz has it all. The local pistes range from gentle, tree-lined blues to steep, challenging reds and blacks. An hour’s ski from Switzerland, Avoriaz marks the perfect starting point for “The Circuit” – an all day journey through the 12 resorts of the Portes du Soleil.

The very accomplished skiers should not miss the chance to tackle the very challenging Swiss Wall – a kilometre long mogul field that hits 70 degrees at its very steepest. For those who change their mind at the top, fear not! The chairlift will also take you down and into the gentle Swiss pastures beyond.

Avoriaz also offers a wide variety of snowparks and bordercross courses for those wishing to tackle their skills. The Arare face offers the best of both, but arguably the most interesting freestyle zone in the area is the Burton Stash. One of only 6 in the world, the Avoriaz Stash was Europe’s first ecological snowpark in Europe, incorporating only completely natural features.

Aquariaz

What could be better after a long day skiing than in relaxing an open air hot tub? Aquariaz has been designed as an aquatic paradise in the mountains. This water park is full of slides and climbing walls and a water playhouse – ideal for entertaining the kids on a bad weather day

Music Festivals

The Rock On: Ultimate festival will kick this winter season off, and French act Cassius will be entertaining the crowds with their mix of electro and pop music.

The Transition festival follows shortly, an event held for the first time last year, and driven by the popular Austrian festival Snowbombing.

In March, the Portes du Soleil hosts the Rock The Piste! music festival. Five artists perform in each of the five major towns of the resort, with Avoriaz hosting their gig right on the slopes!
